FOAM PANEL PLANT, LEAD OPERATOR

Full-time$27–$32/hrStettler, ABManufacturing

About the Role

If you’re the most capable person in any room you walk into — and people naturally orient to you without you having to ask for it — this is your role. Metalex is hiring a Foam Panel Plant Lead Operator at our Stettler manufacturing facility. You’ll be the most senior person on the plant floor: hands-on in production, setting the pace, and making sure the team and the plan are always aligned.

Your role is coordination and communication. You keep the team aligned on the plan, maintain quality and output through every step of production, and serve as the primary link between the floor and the Foam Panel Systems Coordinator. You stay on top of everything happening in the plant — catching issues early, making the call to pause or redirect when needed, and keeping the Coordinator informed on anything that goes beyond the floor.

This is a plant-based role in Stettler. No travel. Consistent schedule. If you know the work cold and you’re the kind of person others naturally follow, this is where you step up.

What You’ll Do

  • Work hands-on in foam panel production: coil line preparation, polyurethane injection, panel packaging, and transport staging
  • Calculate material shots and execute injection operations to meet production specifications
  • Maintain quality control on the floor — perform accurate measurements, uphold QA/QC standards, and complete non-conformity reports when issues arise
  • Halt production when quality or safety requires it; communicate clearly to the team and escalate to the Coordinator as needed
  • Coordinate daily production schedules and workflow with the Foam Panel Systems Coordinator to ensure output levels meet customer demand
  • Track plant inventory: monitor levels, flag deficiencies, and flag replenishment needs before they become a problem
  • Set the pace and standard on the floor — lead by example, share your knowledge, and keep the team focused on the plan
  • Run monthly plant inspections and maintain complete, accurate production logs and documentation
  • Model and uphold safety protocols without exception: PPE, hazard identification, housekeeping, and stop-work authority
  • Operate all production workstations, power tools, and equipment safely and correctly

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, or a related hands-on environment — you know how a production floor runs
  • A natural communicator who keeps people informed, plans clear, and work moving — the kind of person a team organizes around
  • Strong attention to detail: accurate measurements, clean documentation, and zero tolerance for defects leaving the floor
  • Physical capability to work in a demanding plant environment, including heavy lifting throughout the shift
  • Comfort with production software and documentation — experience with VeriClock is an asset
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • A problem-solver who enjoys the challenge — when something unexpected comes up on the floor, you find a practical solution and keep things moving
  • A self-directed work ethic and the integrity to do the job right when no one is watching

What Metalex Offers

  • $27–$32/hr based on experience, paid bi-weekly by direct deposit
  • Monday to Friday schedule, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime opportunities
  • Work close to home — this role is based in Stettler, no travel required
  • Extended health benefits including health, dental, and life insurance (following probationary period)
  • Health Spending Account (HSA)
  • Access to 175+ personal and professional development courses
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)
  • Real influence over how your floor operates — we back our leads
  • A company that promotes from within and holds every level of leadership to the same standard
